Zusammenfassung

Adaptivity and integration of communication functionalities are crucial for the development of wireless sensor networks. We argue that both measures can improve performance and efficiency without destroying the system structure, and give general design guidelines. We then apply these measures to the development of an adaptive frame-based forward error control mechanism, based on Shamir's secret sharing scheme. Furthermore, we show how this mechanism can be integrated across layers, and, in particular, with a given networked control system application, an inverted pendulum, implemented with MICA2 nodes, a technology for wireless sensor networks.
