Zusammenfassung
The formal description technique SDL is in widespread use in industry as a design language for reactive, distributed systems. Recently, SDL patterns have been introduced as a new concept to increase reusability in SDL based system design. However, developing SDL patterns is a very time consuming task and an ongoing process as one always expects the latest state of the art.
This paper outlines an approach that supports systematic evolution of SDL patterns. It controls the effort by developing the artifacts incrementally and only on demand of application engineers. In accordance with the SDL pattern based reuse process, an improvement cycle is established, which is based on applying the patterns in practice. Gained experience flows directly into the improvement activity, eventually resulting in a new pattern release.
