Abstract
We have developed a realtime communication service running on PCs interconnected with a conventional tokenring local area network. The implementation was guided by main concepts of quality of service architectures proposed in the literature. It is shown how these concepts are to be developed into a real implementation and how restrictions regarding the run time platform and the underlying network service influence performance results and predictability.
